How to Avoid Root Canal Treatment?

A root canal is where your teeth's roots are located to keep them attached to your gums and bone underneath. However, when a tooth suffers microbial invasion, it ends up infecting the pulp in it as well. The removal of this very pulp, rather than the tooth itself, is known as a root canal.

Although it is a statistically successful procedure, preventing many from getting implants, it can be quite painful.

Avoiding a general dentistry service like root canal requires you to do everything in your power to keep plaque far away from your pearly whites. Here’s how to accomplish it.

Brush and Floss Religiously

Do not get lazy on your teeth; they spend an entire day coming into contact with every solid food you consume. To make sure the plaque doesn’t solidify and turn into tartar, brush your teeth twice a day.

Moreover, use mouthwash to rinse out your oral cavity and floss after every meal as there are areas that even your toothbrush can’t reach.

Change Your Culinary Preferences

We’re not asking you to go all out and refine your palate. Just avoid anything that would give you cavities like candies or soda. Eat raw or rare meat as rarely as you can, and make sure to brush your teeth right after.

You can also make cavity-reversing food like leafy greens, eggs, and raw nuts a part of your daily diet.

Wear a Mouthguard

If you have inherited mouth-grinding or clenching during sleep, we suggest you wear a mouthguard. This will protect your teeth from getting weak at the roots.

Weak teeth end up exposing your roots, which may make them susceptible to infection, so the only way to ensure they hold fast to the bone is by protecting one jaw from the other.

Get Regular Dental Checkups

Our advice is to visit your local dental clinic every six months or, at the very least, annually.

Your periodontist will check your oral cavity for any signs of infections or abnormalities, leading to them getting detected and dealt with early on instead of much later when both the literal and metaphoric price will be much higher.
